The paint swatch scheme contains additional information about each paint, including its opacity/transparency, staining level, granulation level, lightfastness rating, special effects, and the pigments it contains.

The tendency of pigment particles to settle unevenly on the paper, creating a textured, speckled appearance. High-granulating paints produce more visible texture; non-granulating paints dry more smoothly.

How resistant a watercolor paint is to fading or color change when exposed to light over time. Higher lightfastness means the color will stay stable for many years.
